25th Anniversary on the Air!
It started on a small radio station in north San Diego 25 years ago, and has now grown to become Southern California’s Sportfishing Voice to thousands of southland anglers. Let’s Talk Hook-up, heard every Saturday and Sunday 7am to 9am on The Mighty 1090AM Sports Radio will celebrate the beginning of their 26th year on the air on September 10th, 2016. Founder and host Pete Gray’s concept of a fishing talk show on the radio began in September 1991 as a one hour show Sunday . The first guest on the program was long range fishing pioneer Bill Poole. Poole told Gray- “I think you have something here”, and the program grew from there.
The history of the program includes veteran actor Marty Milner who joined the program as co-host in 1994. Marty stayed with the show until October 2004 when health problems forced him to retire. Stepping in to fill the co-host slot was “Rock Cod” Rick Maxa, as he is affectionately know as on the show. Rick had been a part of Let’s Talk Hook-up for over 20 years, starting as the telephone screener at age 14, and now co-host. Rick also is a manager at Fishermans Landing Tackle Shop.
Let’s Talk Hook-up features different experts guests on every program, and has the best fishing reporters from southern California and baja waters and host trips from Alaska to Panama. Join in the fun and excitement of Let’s Talk Hook-up, heard from Santa Barbara to San Diego every Saturday and Sunday 7am to 9 am on The Mighty 1090AM, or you can listen anywhere at www.hookup1090.com . The ZBAR Jig, is 100% CNC machined from a solid piece of metal. Not cast or poured like all other jigs. It has taken over 2 years to get it right, these all swim the same, each and everyone of them. 100% of will swim the same. The swimming action is what every fisherman wants out of the Surface Jig, so we took the best action from our favorite jigs and merged them together and then fine tuned the design to be able to make the jigs swim every-time. We are not going with all the fancy paint schemes, because it is the action that gets the fish to bite. So we are only offering them in 4 colors to start. Naked (bare aluminum) White, Black and Mint will be the basic start. If you want the Blue and White or scrambled egg or other typical color patterns then you will get the white and paint it they way you want. But we warn you that excess paint or coating will effect the swimming action. We have such tight tolerances on our design that the slights change will change the action. We released the first of these at the 2016 Fred Hall Sporting show in Long Beach and Del Mar and have set up only two retailers so far to sell the - Angler's Arsenal and Fisherman's Landing in San Diego, CA. But more will be set-up soon. We will also be posting photos and videos very soon of the fish being caught with the ZBAR Jig as well.
